Both the 7th and 8th grade Valparaiso Vikings AAU teams went to Noblesville this weekend and captured the Super Hoops State Tournament title.

The 8th grade team, coached by VHS Varsity Head Coach Chirs Benedict and Greg Doane, was the #1 seed in the tournament, earning them a two round bye. They went on to defeat New Prarie in the semi-finals and then Carmel in the finals. The team is a mix of players from Valparaiso's Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson Middle School squads.

The 7th grade team was a #2 seed in their tournament, defeating hometown Noblesville, then also #1 seed Westfield and #1 Carmel in their championship game.

This year marks the 26th and 27th appearances in the Super Hoops AUU State Final Tournament for Valparaiso teams since 1998, the most appearances in the state.
